Thats A Lot of Deck!

We spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning staining our decks with oil based stain. It's a hard messy job and we both felt like passing out at one time or another. We used 11 gallons of stain. Glad that's over!

Laina likes to pretend that she is a Yoga Instructor. Here she is instructing her mom.

Windy City

It has been so windy lately that I recruited Laina to help me pick sticks up out of the yard. Every time the wind comes up we have a huge wheelbarrow full of twigs and branches to pick up from the three huge trees in our front yard.
W
When Laina got tired of picking sticks up she tried to get Elsa to eat a stick but Elsa wouldn't.

How sweet it is.

My sister, Judy, Sarah, Kari, Laina, Bridget, myself and Terri front and center. Candy was the 'theme' of the shower because Terri loves candy. Sarah, Kari, and Bridget planned the shower and had the number one hit single from 1969 "Sugar Sugar" playing when she came in.
Terri--her friends and their kids.
Desiree and Griffin loading up on candy.
Laina and Charlie helping Terri open gifts.
Isabelle--one of the youngest shower attendees.

Cousins Bridget and Kari.
Laina and Bridget chillin' out after the shower.

Bunny Protector!

This is the contraption I rigged up using tomatoe cages to try to keep the bunnies safe from predators. Their hole in the ground nest is in the middle of the cages. They are all out of the nest now. We have spotted some bunnies in the yard so we know at least some of them survived. We also know some of them didn't. I will try to get a picture of one of the cuties to post. I know you've all seen bunnies but these were especially cute bunnies!

Spring Bounty

We get about this much asparagus every other day from our garden. Thats a lot of asparagus to eat but we do our best. We love it with olive oil, coarse salt and pepper and then grilled. We tried it with a white sauce the other night but I'll have to admit my white sauce was less than perfect. We are not giving away asparagus to anyone outside the family at this point but if any blog readers would like some rhubarb---let me know.

How to Bake a Cake

While I was making a rhubarb cake Laina decided to "make" her own cake. And here is how she does it. The first picture is what my kitchen looked like when she was done. Would I ever have let my own kids make this big of mess? NO!

A Very CUTE Surprise

We try to keep a look out for what looks like this when we are mowing or out and about in the yard. Why? Because what it means...............
is this. A bunny nest. These little guys are about a week old. Fortunately they escaped the wrath of the lawnmower and Elsa. Has that always been the case? I don't want to talk about it.

Games On!

We had Candyland when my kids were little. I have played this game (the old version) approximately 500 times. I played the new Dora version with Laina and it is pretty much the same. It teaches counting and colors and doesn't start to drive you crazy unless you play it more than 5 times in one day, which I have done and is why I am a little crazy. But I would still recommend the game.
I wouldn't recommend this game. It is confusing and not very fun. And for most of the game there would be 2 or 3 people on the same "space".
