Sleep Over and Roll Over

Last Friday Laina came home from school with a "thumbs up" from her teacher for "being good the whole day!" Since mom was sick Laina decided to spend the night at Grandma's. After arriving at our house Laina hid from Grandpa, who didn't know she was coming, and made funny noises and knocking sounds on the wall to try to get Grandpa to discover the surprise. It took Grandpa quite a long time to figure who was making the funny noises to Laina's delight!

All snuggled up to watch the movie Matilda before bed.
Grandma made pancakes for breakfast. Laina's favorite!

Hudson learned this new trick and performed for us about 17 times in one day!

Charlie's Birthday Party

Laina and Hudson went to Charlie's (my nieces son) 6th birthday party at the Childrens Museum on Saturday. Terri was sick and I didn't want them to miss out on the fun so granny took two kids, a stroller, a baby carrier, a diaper bag, purse, coats, hats, mittens, pacifiers & birthday present. Whew! I know I used to do this without the slightest problem but it is quit the chore when you're out of practice. Hudson absolutely loved all the noise and exitement. Pictured below are Charlie, brother Griffin and Laina. Laina always likes to accessorize with her pink scarf on a special day!

Hudson had to take a 30 minute cat nap to get through the party.

Jinxed!

Today I was going to take Laina to the Childrens Museum or maybe Tjarks Jungle at Sycamore Mall. Nope--the roads and weather are not good. No problem. I'll take Elsa for along walk. Oh no, when I get home two of our basement rooms are flooded with water. Luckily they both have cement floors. Still a mess. I call the plumber and after describing the problem they tell me to call City Sewer. Our main sewer line is backed up because of tree roots. I move everything that is getting wet I sweep water into the drain and turn on a fan. City Sewer arrives and makes really loud ugly noises correcting the problem and I am instructed not to run any water or flush any toilets. I empty my dishwasher and drop a butter dish that was given to me for my birthday last night. It shatters into about 7000 pieces. I sweep and sweep again and pull out my frig to make sure I have all the glass. I take a chip clip off a bag of candy that I opened last night at my family birthday celebration and the chip clip breaks. I find a piece of glass in the slipper that I am wearing. Its only noon. I look for images of clogged sewer pipes on the internet and find they are too disgusting to post. BUT......it was lucky that I was at home when the problem occured and promptly got it taken care of. And it was only a butter dish and really--was the chip clip even worth mentioning?

I'll have some Dip with my Chips Please!

Sooo I've been avoiding this post for awhile because I didn't want to offend anyone but I figure no one has to read my blog. A few weeks ago I was stopped at the Village Inn stop sign and a 'fund soliciter' was standing in the median with his sign. I was pretty close to him and there was one car in front of me. The woman in the car in front of me handed something out to him and I could see it was a bag of potato chips. I'm just thinking, huh, funny. Then I see the woman rummaging around in her car and she hands something else out to him. He didn't take a good look at it right away but when he did check it out I could see that it was chip dip! I was kind of smiling to myself when he looked right at me and smiled. It was like we shared a private joke.

Come on Down!

I stopped to see when Scandinavian Interiors was going to open and to my surprise it was already open! I went in to see what they had to offer. I was surprised to find that they had jewelry, food items, candles, purses or 'bags', and lamps as well as pictures, pillows and furniture. A fun store and nice addition to sleepy little Riverside. It's right off the interstate so stop in sometime.

30 on the 30th-Happy Golden Birthday Erik

Erik diving into his Big Italian Beef and Sausage sandwich from Sparti's at his 30th birthday celebration on December 30. We were also celebrating Barry's birthday, which is also December 30th but his golden birthday was a long time ago!

Tom, Jeremy and Erik are now all 30!

Laina took this picture of Bridget goofing off at the birthday party.
