Book Review
I read this book to Bridget's first grade class last Friday as part of her "Mystery Reader" program. Bridget gives her class clues all week as to who the mystery reader will be. Friday's clue was that it was someone in her family. Coincidently, a police officer came to talk about safety that day. The children immediately thought the police officer was the mystery reader and was Bridget's DAD! The police officer was about 30 years old and Bridget is 28. Bridget told her class that the police officer was NOT the mystery reader and was NOT her dad. The police officer gave his talk and when he asked if anyone had any questions??? The first question that one of the kids asked was "what was Miss Kirsch like when she was a baby?" First graders are hilarious!
I chose this book because I loved the pictures and thought it had a nice seasonal feel to it without being too Christmasy to be appropriate for public school. If you need a last minute gift for a pre-school to lower elementary age child this would be perfect!
