THis Old House-Part Two

We rented this house in North Liberty over 30 years ago for 3 years. I was 19 years old when we moved in! I snapped this picture while in NL the other day. It looks almost exactly the same now as it did 30 years ago. They sold what used to be the back yard and a house sits there now. We had a garden and pear trees where the "new" house sits. We brought Bridget home from the hospital to this house. When we first moved in we had a little mouse problem because the house had been empty for awhile. We hunted night crawlers in the back yard for fun and then let them go because we didn't fish. Oops! Am I rambling on like an old lady? Sorry! Oh, one more thing. We bought the dining room table and chair set from our landlady. We refinished it and recovered the chair seats and still have it to this day.

Photos By Laina

Laina was practicing her photography skills Saturday. She practiced taking picture of Hudson and of herself--which isn't all that easy. Oh yes, and she wanted to put a headband on Hudson. He didn't seem to mind.

The Perfect Easter

Easter turned out to be an almost perfect day with everyone making it home for church and lunch. The only part that wasn't perfect was me not getting any pictures of Malin. She is still very into eating and sleeping so its hard to get a picture of her. The other part that wasn't perfect was the fact that I got Laina two books that she already has. Darn! Oh well I think she got plenty anyway. The weather sure turned out great and we got lots of outside time at the park.

Hudson exclaims over all his toys--even if they aren't new!

Bridget and Jeremy gave Hudson a book about Kangaroo's.

This Old House

This is the house I lived in for 6 years while going through jr high and high school in a small town in Minnesota. It was white when we owned it but otherwise looks pretty much the same. My parents bought the house for $15,000 in 1972 and sold it for $32,00 in 1978 and my dad said he heard they were asking $100,000 for it a few years ago when it went up for sale. I snapped these pictures from our truck window this weekend while we were back visiting Barry's parents.

Hop

We're heading to Minnesota on Saturdsay so I told Laina I would take her to the Children's Museum and to the movie Hop Friday night. The reviews for Hop are not very good but we are going anyway.

Hudson takes a Ride

I VERY SECURELY strapped Huson onto the Kettler last weekend and we rode to the pond with Laina leading the way on her scooter. Hudson loved every minute of it but his mom was worried that he wasn't strapped in well enough and might tumble out. But he was and he didn't.

Crazy Weekend

We had our annual roast beef dinner at church on Saturday so I made two raison cream pies for the dinner and 3 pans of cinnamon rolls for the bake sale. Sunday we celebrated Tom's birthday with lasagna. Below is the lasagna assembly line. I froze one pan for some other time. How do you cook one and half packages of lasagna noodles? In a big pasta pan!
Lucy was our guest this weekend while her mom and dad went to a Kansas City Royals game and here she is with a baby toy in her mouth which now will go in the washer.
